Magnus Carlsen, the 15-year-old Norwegian Grandmaster who is now one of the top players in the world, defeated seven-time Norwegian Champion Grandmaster Simen Adgestein 3-1 in a playoff for the title of Norwegian Champion yesterday.The two GMs battled it out in a 9-round, 22-player Swiss-system tournament in July, where they tied for first with 7 points out of 9.
Carlsen is already the highest-rated player in his country, and is tied for 29th place on the World Ranking List.
