CAP D'ADGE RAPID TOURNAMENT UNDERWAY

The Cap D'Adge Rapid Tournament, which brings some of the best chess talent the world has to offer, is currently underway in France. The tournament is being played with preliminaries and finals: 8 players in Group A face each other, as do 8 Players in Group B. The four top finishers in each group face off in the Finals.

The sensation so far is that the 12th World Champion, Anatoly Karpov, was knocked out in the preliminary stage. Although Karpov is 55 years old now, he has always been a very strong rapid player and recently tied for first with his nemesis Garry Kasparov over Judit Polgar and Viktor Korchnoi.

The tournament concludes on November 2.
