OUR STUDENT: ALEXANDRA BANIN
Alexandra is a third-grade student at Horace Mann School. She has worked very hard on her chess, attending nearly every NYChessKids camp over the past year. Alexandra studies chess every day: she plays on the Internet Chess Club, and practices what she is assigned by her teachers.
The NYChessKids teachers enjoy working with Alexandra: here is a very serious student, with impeccable behavior, who at the same time has a vibrant personality! She gets along very well with other students and has a good sense of humor.
Alexandra has been playing in rated tournaments for a year and now her rating is climbing towards 900. She will represent her school in Orlando at the National Scholastic K-12 Grade Championships which begin next Friday.
Students who have a genuine love of the game stay with it for years and years, and this is what we expect from Alexandra because she really does love chess!
