OUR STUDENT: COREY BROWN
Corey is a fifth-grade student in P.S. 116, and has represented his school since Kindergarten! He has achieved much in his scholastic career, helping his school win two National Championships (2003 and 2006).
It must be said that Corey is just a great kid all-around. He behaves excellently, is engaged in class, and always gives 100%. He is definitely a favorite among his chess teachers and, we suspect, his classroom teachers as well.
The thing that really stands out about Corey is his maturity: there is not a more mature student on the chess team. Responsible and level-headed, we never have to worry about him "going off the deep end" in class!
It will be a sad day when Corey leaves P.S. 116 in June 2007. We will all miss you, Corey!
Corey has been selected as the NYChessKids Star of the Month for December 2006, and the website will reflect this at the beginning of next month.
His younger brother Spencer is now also part of the chess team.
