GAME 7 ENDS IN FIGHTING DRAW; OPTIONS FOR WATCHING THE GAMES

Game 7 of the unification World Chess Championship in Elista, Kalmykia between FIDE World Champion Veselin Topalov and Classical World Champion Vladmir Kramnik has just finished. The game was a 60-move draw. Topalov had great attacking chances in the middlegame, utilizing the space advantage that the isolated d-pawn usually grants. Kramnik defended accurately and even emerged a pawn ahead in the endgame, but this was apparently not enough to win.

About 15 minutes before the game, Topalov's manager Silvio Danailov shattered the illusion that the accusations would stop with the resolution of the bathroom issue: he issued a press release saying that 78% of Kramnik's moves match Fritz 9's first suggestion. This will undoubtedly poison the atmosphere surrounding the match even more. More on this next time.
