The Right Move tournament series began its 2006-2007 season on Sunday, October 15. The tournament series, which has been in existence since 1990, has free entry to all participants. Because it awards cash prizes, it currently has the strongest Open section of all scholastic tournaments in New York City, attracting mostly middle school and high school students.
This was the 128th tournament. And it set a new attendance record for Right Move events: about 320 players registered!
Loren Weiss captured the Open Section with a perfect 4-0 score, knocking off the top seed Murodjion Shadiev (rated 1995) in the final round.
