The BHB is very simple: to set the time, you simply turn the knob on the back of the clock face you want to adjust. You should periodically wind the clock so that it does not stop running during a game. If the BHB does stop during a game, simply wind it and it will begin to work properly again.
(Remember: to avoid confusion, you should always set an analog clock so that the first (or only) time control ends at 6:00 on the clock face. Each face should be set for 5:30 for a Game/30, 5:00 for a G/60, etc.)
The enduring popularity of the BHB has spawned many imitations over the years. The imitations are not bad chess clocks, but if you want to purchase a BHB specifically, make sure you are getting the real thing.
