BOBBY FISCHER RADIO INTERVIEW

Robert James (Bobby) Fischer became World Champion in 1972 by defeating Boris Spassky in the Title Match. After FIDE refused to give in to the last of Fischer's 179 demands for a match with Anatoly Karpov in Manila (the Philippines), 1975, Fischer refused to defend his World Championship and was stripped of the title by FIDE on April 1, 1975. Except for one 30-game match against Spassky in 1992, Fischer has never played again.

Fischer is a mythical figure in chess, moreso even than Morphy or Capablanca, or Tal. That Bobby Fischer is chess' biggest name is as true today as it was in 1972. Chess magazines still write about him, ChessBase still reports on him, and the biggest forums on the very popular ChessGames.com website are devoted to Fischer.

Recently Fischer, now an Icelandic citizen, gave a radio interview. Unlike most of his previous radio interviews, this has a lot of chess content, his view on past champions, etc. He also gives his views on modern chess.

Please read the ChessBase article here. It tells you where to go to hear the chess content; in the past Fischer's interviews have not been the "cleanest" to say the least.
