Jonathan Alony is a fourth-grade sudent at P.S. 116. He has been a part of the school's chess team for years, and represents the team at all major regional and national scholastic tournaments. Most recently, he was part of the team that won the 2006 National Elementary Championship in Denver.
Privately coached by Anatoly Trubman, Jonathan is confident at the board and does not get"stage fright." A big factor in this confidence is probably the fact that Jonathan also studies martial arts.
Jonathan's mom Jolie is very involved in helping support the P.S. 116 chess team; she is in the group photo accompanying the blog entry "Spotlight: P.S. 116 Parents."
Jonathan is currently preparing for the National K-12 Scholastic Championships in Orlando, Fl (December 2006).
