SPOTLIGHT: P.S. 116 PARENTS

Supporting PS116 Team Seoun ,Jolie ,Lisa ,Julie
For any chess program, parental support is a big key (even the decisive factor) in how far it can go. P.S. 116 has won three national titles (2001, 2003, and 2006) and this can be traced to the support given by parents of the student chessplayers.

The chess team parents at P.S. 116 raise money to send their team to the Nationals through the sale of food at tournaments, but this is only part of it! The parents also get along with each other very well, and the comraderie is evident when talking to them. They write about chess in the school publications and support the work of the chess teachers tremendously, and are a liason to the P.S. 116 administration.

Producing a championship-calibre team every year takes an effort from the entire community, and the P.S. 116 students, parents, and administration work with the chess teachers to get it done.

If you would like to support the P.S. 116 Chess Team or join the group, you can email the Parent Coordinator, Julie Livingston at julie_liv@yahoo.com.
